2014 Thanksgiving Competitions

As the fall semester is underway and our England, Scotland and Ireland UCEAP students are beginning to settle into life at their host institutions, we here at the Edinburgh and London Study Centres are hard at work preparing for next month’s Annual UCEAP Thanksgiving Event! This event invites our current UCEAP students to spend a weekend in Dublin and connect with their fellow students studying throughout the UK and Ireland. The main event of the weekend will be our Thanksgiving Dinner—a traditional American feast with entertainment provided by a local Irish band and traditional Irish dancers. It’s sure to be an exciting evening and we are looking forward to welcoming our students, guests and alumni in Dublin next month! Every year, as part of our Thanksgiving Celebration, we host three wonderful competitions as a way for our current students to showcase their UCEAP experiences:

PHOTO Competition: We are looking for the best photo taken by a current UCEAP student which encapsulates an important element of his/her study abroad experience in the UK or Ireland. For example, the photo can relate to travel within the UK/Ireland, student life on campus, an event occurring in your city or even a photo taken in an academic setting! (Photo should preferably feature UC students although scenic photos will also be considered.)

VIDEO Competition: Whether it’s a funny video or a masterpiece in cinematography, we want to see them! The video should relate to your current experiences here in the UK/Ireland, experiences that you wouldn’t get anywhere else but on UCEAP! Any combination of photo, video and audio footage is acceptable. (Video length should not exceed 5 minutes.)

BLOG Competition: Funny or serious, long or short, we are looking for the best blog post that sums up your thoughts on any aspect of your UCEAP study abroad experience so far—academic life, adjusting to life in a new country, thoughts on local culture, etc.! (Blog entry should not exceed 700 words)

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each of the categories will win a prize which will be presented on the evening of the Thanksgiving Event!
