Last weekend, over 130 students studying in England, Scotland and Ireland travelled up to the Scottish Highlands for the 2015 UCEAP UK/Ireland Spring Trip. Hosted by the Edinburgh and London Study Centres, the trip began in Scotland’s capital city and took students on a journey north. Throughout the weekend, UCEAP students learned about the Highland region’s long and interesting past through insights from local, professional Scottish tour guides.
Highlights of the two-day excursion included a tour of the beautiful Blair Castle, a very moving exhibition and visit to Culloden Battlefield, an evening in the Highland’s capital of Inverness, stunning views of Loch Ness from the historic Urquhart Castle and a stop at one of Scotland’s most famous geographical landmarks-Glen Coe.
From tales of fairies to lessons in Scottish Gaelic, UC students had a great time discovering the unique history and traditions associated with the Celtic region of the Highlands!
