Earlier in September, the ESC welcomed our new incoming Fall 2016 Scotland and Ireland students. The ESC held separate two-day long orientations in Dublin and Edinburgh that included informational presentations and cultural events for our freshly arrived crowd from California.
In Dublin, our first day consisted of a “human bingo” icebreaker to get students familiar with one another and a group dinner at a dining venue inside a revamped church building.
The next day, the students were treated to a hop-on-hop-off bus tour of Dublin. Every major site of interest was available as a stop, and thanks to the gorgeous sunny day, all of Dublin was bright and beautiful; perfect for a top-down bus ride around the city!
Dinner that night consisted of a three-course meal and traditional Irish music and dancing. One of our students was actually pulled on stage for a jig!
In Edinburgh, the first day also consisted of an icebreaker to help the students get to know one another better. The hum of friendly chat was astounding!
After the presentation, we had a group dinner to further get to know the students and to fill up on carbs for the next day.
Day two consisted of a visit to Edinburgh castle and another tasty group dinner before our students went off to their respective universities.
It was a whirlwind of fun, information, and socialising, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon!
