UCEAP Thanksgiving 2017

Students from all over the United Kingdom and Ireland travelled the beautiful city of London this weekend for our UCEAP Thanksgiving event.  The ballroom was set in the historic Plaisterer’s Hall ready to be filled with eager students, staff and alumni alike.

Scholarship Reception

Before our event began in full and our students were served an incredible Thanksgiving inspired dinner including turkey and pumpkin spiced cheesecake, our alumni and scholarship recipients were welcomed to a reception with two speeches from UCEAP Regional Director, Melody Knutson, and Dr. Matthew Daines.  This reception was the perfect opening to a fun night of dinner, dancing and photo booths!

Doors Open, Bring on the Food!

As laughter filled the large auditorium, dinner was served and soon came dessert.  United Kingdom & Ireland Programme Manager, Hilary Noyce and the London Study Centre Manager Monika Kraska, welcomed our students in a warm and inviting speech discussing the evolution of our programmes and the continued tradition of our annual Thanksgiving event.

Announcement: Scavenger Hunt Competition Winners!

One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of our UCEAP UK & Ireland Scavenger Hunt Competition winners. After a brief intro from the manager of the competition, our Programmer Intern, Esther Cisneros, Melody Knutson ripped open the envelope and read out the list of winners:

  • 3rd Place: Priya Sri-Tharan, University of Edinburgh, Scottish Parliament Internship
  • 2nd Place: Kristine Tran, University College Dublin
  • 1st Place: Keziah Mills, University College London
  • BONUS Prize: Camille Schelsinger (with Nataly Nuñez), University of London, Royal Holloway

Time to Ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee”)

Despite being full to the brim after dinner and dessert, as the ceilidh band’s beautiful music filled the banquet hall our students jumped to their feet eager to dance the night away in the traditional Scottish way.  It was so much fun watching students from across our twenty-one universities mingle and march to the music.

Thanks for Coming!

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who made this night so special from our staff and crew for the night to our students who brought life into the party!  We’ve shared professional photographs of the event on our Facebook Page, so feel free to like, share, and tag yourselves!
