About Colin’s blog, Gaucho Abroad
During his time at the University of Bristol, a junior and Economics major at UC Santa Barbara, Colin Galeste, decided to document his UCEAP experience in the form of a blog: Gaucho Abroad. A few fast facts about Colin:
- “I was placed in Gryffindor by Pottermore.com.
- I like photography but I still keep my camera on Auto most of the time. So many settings man.
- I’m big on matinee movie showings. A bunch of retirees and I.
- I won best dressed in high school, but that was three years ago. I own crocs now.”
Below, you will find a few of Colin’s articles, but if you want to read more you can check out Colin’s blog site via the link above!
In this article, Colin takes us through the process of packing and saying goodbye to friends and family before setting off to his UCEAP orientation in London before he heads off the Bristol. (Posted 10 September, 2017).
Today I said my final goodbyes… It’s 9:00 pm as I write this and I have yet to do any packing for the day. Instead, I’m watching TV with my parents. But hey! It’ll be a little while before I get to do this again.” -Colin Galeste, “SF to LDN,” Gaucho Abroad
One of the great things about living in Bristol is the proximity of the town of Bath, known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Colin decided to take the short (10-minute!) train ride west of Bristol to visit the town, and shares his experience in his article.
“Wait so is it Bath? Or “Bauth?” I questioned my parents over the phone. “Honestly son you’re the one in England. Ask someone!” My mom retorted. Good point.” -Colin Galeste, “Bath,” Gaucho Abroad
